Hey everyone, I'm about to get a Dolphin and I'm really excited to try it out. Has anyone else gotten one? If so, is there anything you wish you knew before you bought it?

Hey! I’ve had mine since October and I’m loving it. Already hit 5k miles. I’ve owned a few EVs before, and I’d definitely recommend the Dolphin! The only issue I’ve run into is glare from the air vents, but other than that, the performance and efficiency are great. You won’t be disappointed, trust me!

Dolphin will use about 30-50% of the battery every day if you drive 100-200 miles.

If you use that slow charger that comes with the car, it'll take forever to charge. Like, 10-15 hours.

But if you get a home charger, it'll be way faster. And you can save a ton of money by charging at night. There are these special plans that are super cheap at night. You just plug it in when you get home and it'll charge all night.

It'll only cost you a few bucks to charge every night.

If you drive a lot, you might want to get the extended range version. It goes way further – around 420km instead of 350km.

Reviews say it's a comfy ride, but maybe not as fun to drive as that MG4. I test drove it and liked it. It's smaller on the outside but feels pretty roomy inside, kinda like a Honda Jazz. I ended up getting the Atto 3 though.

A lot of places give you free charging now when you buy a car. If you can charge at home overnight, it'll save you a ton of money.

This car looks like a solid pick for the price! The only downside is that the DC rapid charging speed is a bit meh (classic LFP battery vibes, like in the MG4 Standard Range).

The BYD Dolphin 60 kWh tops out at 88kW, so it’ll take about 41 minutes to juice up from 10-80%.

If that’s not a dealbreaker for you, then it’s probably a pretty good option!

Trunk space and cargo room are kinda tight. The safety and tech features mostly work like they should. The infotainment system's okay, but the translations are a little wonky. They were good about fixing the software bugs I found, even one really weird warning that was totally backwards. But even after the update, some of the translations are still off. Like, the description of how the cameras turn on when you signal is kinda hard to understand. On the bright side, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the voice commands all work great.

Totally agree with all of that! I've been thinking along the same lines. Especialy the extended range – if you're a frequent driver, that extra mileage is a game changer. And you're right about the comfort vs. fun factor, it's a trade-off

The MG4 comparison is spot on; I've heard similar things. And the Atto 3 choice makes sense too

And yes, free chargng deals are huge! I've been impressed by the amount of free charging offers. Home charging is definitely the way to go for long term savings. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
